Welcome:
Thank you for joining our group tonight. Before we begin, we’d like to remind all participants that this is a recovery-centered organization and support group. While we do discuss illness, we like to focus on wellness and ways we can support each other in our personal recovery journeys.
We’d also like to remind individuals that this group is a structured group; typically we check in with each other, we introduce a topic for the discussion and conclude the session with a check out. Individuals are encouraged to share; however, passing on your opportunity to share is also your right.
Finally, because of the nature of on line groups, and the lack of social cues it is sometimes difficult to tell when someone is finished their thought. We can avoid interrupting one another especially during check in and out by offering something like ‘that’s all for me’ or ‘next’ to tell us you’re done.
